Between Beira Baixa and Beira Alta - Penamacor & Guarda

It all started with a direct message on Instagram, after Filipa saw one of our stories from another wedding.

"I thought you weren't shooting weddings anymore. Can you give me a quote for mine? 😎" she said, just like that, spontaneous and natural.

After congratulating her, the conversation moved to WhatsApp, and just a few days later we were already confirming the date and finalizing the package.

But for me, this story has an even more special meaning.

I - Gonçalo - have known Filipa since almost the day she was born: we spent much of our youth together as schoolmates and friends, and it was with her that, at the very start of my journey in photography, I first got to explore and deepen my portrait work. Being able to have the honor of capturing her wedding now, more than 12 years after starting down this path, was as moving as it was rewarding.

From the very beginning, they were very upfront: they wanted their session inland, where they're from and where they've always stayed close to. After weighing up the possibilities of Serra da Estrela or Monsanto, Filipa's hometown, which, without them realizing it, had connected them for longer than they imagined, one place ended up speaking louder than the rest. And so it was in Penamacor that their engagement session took place. Through the streets and history of this beautiful Beira village.

A few days later, the day arrived.

June 13, 2026.

The feast day of Saint Anthony.

The matchmaker saint.

And there couldn't have been a more fitting date.

Filipa and David celebrated their wedding at Quinta da Ponte, in Guarda, on a day full of celebration, emotion, and so much joy. Not even the sweltering heat could slow down the enthusiasm of all the guests!
